Angelique Power has joined Joyce as senior program officer for the Culture Program. Angelique comes to Joyce with more than 15 years of experience in communications and outreach, most recently serving as director of communications and community engagement at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
“Angelique is a talented arts leader with a strong commitment to expanding audiences for cultural institutions,” said Joyce President Ellen S. Alberding. “Joyce has a strong commitment to making the arts available to serve diverse populations, and Angelique is the right leader to move this program forward. We’re thrilled to welcome her to our team.”
As senior program officer, Angelique will guide Joyce’s Culture Program, which distributes $2 million annually. She will focus on sustaining and advancing accessibility to high-quality arts, developing leadership programs and capacity building of community-based arts groups, and fostering the creative work of minority artists through the Joyce Awards.
Angelique served in communications and marketing leadership roles at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art for seven years prior to joining Joyce. She also developed philanthropic marketing efforts as a senior manager and community relations specialist at Target Corporation.
Angelique co-founded the Multicultural Arts Marketing Committee, which aims to increase participation of audiences of color within Chicago’s cultural institutions. She also serves on Museums in the Park’s marketing committee. She replaces Michelle Boone, who has been named the City of Chicago’s Commissioner of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
