Advance Illinois Advisory Council Issues First Report

State’s award-winning teachers share vision in Transforming Teacher Work

More than two years ago, Advance Illinois, a Joyce Education grantee, formed the Educator Advisory Council, composed of some of the state’s best teachers, to inform Advance Illinois and its work. The Council has issued its first report, Transforming Teacher Work for a Better Educated Tomorrow, which provides an educator’s vision of how Illinois – and potentionally every other state – can effectively and strategically implement newly codified education reforms.

Watch as members of the Educator Advisory Council share their visions.

Transforming Teacher Work envisions a school in which:

  1. Teachers have the time and tools to work together.
  2. Teachers work side by side with administrators, taking leadership roles and sharing responsibility for outcomes.
  3. Teachers, like their students, continue learning and evolving.
  4. Teachers can advance in their careers without leaving the classroom and their roles and various contributions are recognized.
